Properties of Fe-Ga Magnetostrictive Alloy Single Crystal

High-quality single crystal with
minimal composition variation

Fe-Ga magnetostrictive alloy single crystals are a key material for vibration power generation (energy harvesting) that powers IoT sensors, as well as for actuators and sensors. Using the Vertical Bridgman (VB) method, we grow high-quality single crystals with minimal variation in Ga concentration.
We can grow them as rectangular prisms up to 66 mm × 66 mm and cylinders up to φ52 mm. These crystals reach a high magnetostriction of about 300 ppm with very little variation, giving them excellent properties for vibration-power-harvesting devices.

FAQ

Common Questions About Fe-Ga Magnetostrictive Alloy Single Crystal

In what applications are magnetostrictive materials used?
A: Magnetostrictive materials are used in actuators, sensors, and power generation devices. In recent years, the use of vibration power generation as a micro power source for the IoT has been attracting attention, and the use of magnetostrictive materials in vibration power generation devices is expected to expand.
What is vibration power generation?
A: Vibration power generation is a technology that generates energy from vibration by using the piezoelectric effect, the electromagnetic induction effect, the electrostatic induction effect, and the inverse magnetostriction effect. This technology is attracting attention as a micro power source for the IoT.
Our Fe-Ga magnetostrictive alloy single crystals are characterized by low variation in magnetostrictive properties. They exhibit excellent characteristics as magnetostrictive materials for vibration power generation devices that utilize the inverse magnetostriction effect.
What is Fe-Ga alloy?
A: The Fe-Ga magnetostrictive alloy single crystal is an iron-based magnetostrictive material. It is drawing attention for vibration power generation thanks to its high magnetostriction coefficient (about 300 ppm) and strong mechanical properties. We have established technology to produce high-quality Fe-Ga magnetostrictive single crystals with little variation in magnetostrictive properties.
