for Apparel

Revolutionizing apparel with material technology

SOLAMENT™ is a material technology

that absorbs near-infrared light from

sunlight and transforms it into new value.

Its heat-generating capability delivers

unexpected warmth, while its heat-blocking

function protects people under heat.

By achieving comfort with minimal resources

such as down, it approaches the industry's

environmental issues. With its high transparency

and ability to adapt to any color,

SOLAMENT™ illuminates new possibilities

in the apparel field.

An Innovation that turns light into heat

A diagram illustrating the mechanism of SOLAMENT™ for HEAT BLOCKING that absorbs near-infrared light from sunlight and turns it into heat

By absorbing near-infrared light from sunlight, the material itself generates heat instantly.
It delivers an unprecedented level of warmth.

A visual showing the temperature difference when exposing SOLAMENT™-containing fibers and regular fibers to simulated sunlight

In a temperature difference comparison test*, SOLAMENT™-containing fibers reached +19.4°C, compared to +6.4°C for conventional fibers—demonstrating a clear difference in warmth.

Compared to conventional materials, SOLAMENT™ delivers comfort more efficiently, using fewer resources.

Blocking excessive solar heat

SOLAMENT™ prevents temperature rise by blocking near-infrared light, which is abundant in sunlight and causes heat.

By blocking the 850-1200nm range, SOLAMENT™ applied to glass or vinyl prevents temperature rise.
In temperature difference experiments* with tarps, a cooling effect of approximately 6℃ was observed.

Cutting NIR which causes photoaging

A diagram explaining how near-infrared light from sunlight can cause skin damage

SOLAMENT™ blocks NIR, which accounts for about seven times more than ultraviolet (UV) light in sunlight that reaches the Earth's surface. Moreover, NIR penetrates deep into the skin and can cause damage.

The near-infrared radiation (NIR) accounts for about 42% of the sunlight that reaches the Earth's surface. When it comes to "protecting the skin," UV care is mainstream, but NIR care is actually very important as well.

NIR penetrates deeper into the skin than UV, causing wrinkles and sagging. SOLAMENT™ effectively addresses NIR by absorbing and blocking them.
With SOLAMENT™, the material that absorbs and blocks NIR, you can confidently enjoy the sun.

Development process

Co-creating from yarn to fabric with powdered SOLAMENT™

1. SOLAMENT™ material

SOLAMENT™ consists of rare-metal–derived nano-sized particles. While the dispersed powder appears deep blue, only a very small amount is required to deliver its functionality. As a result, it can be used as an almost transparent material during yarn production—without limiting color variations in apparel products.

2. Masterbatch production

By melt-kneading SOLAMENT™ with base resin pellets, a masterbatch is produced in which the nano-sized particles are highly and uniformly dispersed.

3. Yarn production

The SOLAMENT™ masterbatch is blended directly into the fiber itself, embedding functionality within the yarn. Compared to surface treatments, this approach delivers superior durability. During yarn production, the concentration of the SOLAMENT™ masterbatch can be adjusted to control performance.

4. Fabric production

The spun yarns are woven or knitted into fabric. By combining different types of yarns, a wide range of SOLAMENT™'s functional effects can be brought out.

5. Product development

The finished fabric is then developed into final products. With a rich variety of textures and colors, it is possible to achieve both fashion appeal and functional performance.
