Mechanism of SOLAMENT™

SOLAMENT™ absorbs near-infrared light, such as that contained in sunlight, and generates heat, thereby demonstrating value through various functionalities.
When touching the heat-generating surface, the material feels warm.
Conversely, the side that absorbs and generates heat is less likely to transmit heat, resulting in a cooling effect.
In the case of manufacturing heat-blocking fabrics, combining yarns utilizing SOLAMENT™ with yarns that reflect light enhances the heat-blocking effectiveness.
By adjusting the fabric composition according to the application, it becomes possible to meet a wide range of needs.

This project sheds light on new possibilities in fashion by cutting near-infrared light, which is known to cause heat fatigue, and further lowering the temperature inside clothing.
Focusing on the enjoyment and lifestyles that are gradually being lost due to global boiling, we have collaborated with the speculative fashion laboratory Synflux to create an apparel prototype that protects and restores the daily life and culture surrounding us.

        Structure and Function

        The large volume of air drawn into the clothing by the fans of KUCHOFUKU creates a substantial space between the skin and fabric, maximizing SOLAMENT™’s heat-blocking effectiveness.
        By significantly blocking near-infrared light and allowing airflow to promote sweat evaporation, it achieves a temperature reduction of up to 19.3°C* compared to standard workwear.

              Structure and Function

              With a two-layer fabric structure, it delivers a remarkable heat-blocking effect. The outer layer features SOLAMENT™, which significantly cuts near-infrared light. The inner layer uses pleated mesh fabric to create space between the skin and the surface, enhancing the performance of SOLAMENT™ and achieving a temperature reduction of up to 3.6°C* compared to standard products.
