Mechanism of SOLAMENT™

SOLAMENT™ absorbs near-infrared light, such as that contained in sunlight, and generates heat, thereby demonstrating value through various functionalities.
When touching the heat-generating surface, the material feels warm.
Conversely, the side that absorbs and generates heat is less likely to transmit heat, resulting in a cooling effect.
In the case of manufacturing heat-blocking fabrics, combining yarns utilizing SOLAMENT™ with yarns that reflect light enhances the heat-blocking effectiveness.
By adjusting the fabric composition according to the application, it becomes possible to meet a wide range of needs.

Freeing people from heat

This project sheds light on new possibilities in fashion by cutting near-infrared light, which is known to cause heat fatigue, and further lowering the temperature inside clothing.
Focusing on the enjoyment and lifestyles that are gradually being lost due to global boiling, we have collaborated with the speculative fashion laboratory Synflux to create an apparel prototype that protects and restores the daily life and culture surrounding us.

    Structure and Function

    The large volume of air drawn into the clothing by the fans of KUCHOFUKU creates a substantial space between the skin and fabric, maximizing SOLAMENT™’s heat-blocking effectiveness. By significantly cutting near-infrared light while keeping air moving, it promotes sweat evaporation making outdoor work more comfortable.

      Structure and Function

      By layering two fabrics, an exceptional heat-blocking effect is achieved. The outer layer uses SOLAMENT™ to significantly cut near-infrared light. Meanwhile, the inner layer uses pleated mesh fabric to create space between the outer layer and the skin, enhancing the heat-blocking effectiveness of SOLAMENT™ and delivering comfort beyond its appearance.
